• Here is a story I finished.

On March 15, 2014, the residents of New York City buried a time capsule. Their hope was that on March 15, 2114, it would be opened and the future residents of NYC would see what life was like 100 years in the past. The year is 2514. Aliens have declared war on earth. New York is in ruins. Citizens have dug underground bunkers to live in. Three teens John, Robert, and August were walking home from a meeting for the next battle against the aliens, when August tripped over a steel tube. He started crying, hot tears streaming down his face, not because of the fall, but because his parents had been killed in an earlier battle, the pain igniting his grief. When he got up, he was about to kick the tube, but when he really looked at it, felt familiar, so he picked it up, and unscrewed the cap. There were three balls inside. Each teen picked one out to examine them, because they all felt the same familiarity in them. The balls expanded into suits of bulky, futuristic armor over the surprised teens. Then, the ground shook. Over a far away hill, hundreds of bug like aliens were running at them, teeth bared. "What the heck?!?!?" said August. "We need to retreat back to base." "But what about these suits?" asked Robert. "We just need to get back to base!" August repeated. When they started running the suits started to glow, and boosters folded out of the back and they shot down the barren land like rockets, the wind blowing against their suits like an angry hurricane gale force. Then, when they got back, the few in the resistance that were still alive each questioned them about the suits and what was happening out on the surface. When they talked about the new horde of aliens, the whole resistance grabbed their laser swords and shields and headed out to war, the three teens at the front of the army of the resistance. When the aliens reached them, a metal blade folded out of the top of the wrist part on each of the suits, and a shield on the other side. During the fight, the light blades and shields didn't even scratch from the aliens once, but the blades cleaved through the aliens like a razor blade through butter. But many lives were still lost in the battle. When the survivors, including the teens, got back to base, there were only 27 people left in the resistance of NYC. "What the heck were our suits doing?" August asked the other two teens. "I don't know, but they really helped in battle." Robert commented. Then, John spoke up and said, "Well what are we going to do about the attack?" "I don't know." August and Robert said at the same time. Then, someone from the resistance yelled "We should plan a counterattack!" Then, another said "Yeah, we can't win this if we don't fight back!" everyone agreed. They would set off to the alien base tomorrow at noon. The next day, they set off. Everyone in the resistance except for five to guard the home base from any attacks. The trip to the alien base lasted 2 hours, so the troops were tired when they got there. When they got there, the evil stench of death reached their nostrils even before they saw the thousands of aliens, some enormous, some as small as some of the humans. They were about to turn back because they could never defeat the alien army, but then August spotted something, a few hundred meters away, in the alien base. It was an egg. It was the most enormous thing any of the resistance had ever seen. It looked about 20 meters high, incubating over a pit of fire. There was also a ring of aliens, all shapes and sizes, on their knees, hailing the egg. When the army got back to base, they told the other five about it, and everybody was terrified about what they saw, and started debating on if they should recruit some of the citizens still living underground in their own personal bunkers/basements. August said no, because peoples lived could be lost, but Robert and John said yes, because they would die no matter what if the egg hatched. But August was scared even more of the citizens dying, because his own parents had been lost in the resistance against the aliens, so he had a false sense of not needing help, even though he did. They were to set off the next day, fire a few shots at the egg to try to kill whatever is inside while they still could, then make a hasty retreat back to base. But there was one problem. There were rumors going around that the aliens were going to have a surprise attack at the resistance, at the same time as the resistance's surprise attack on the aliens, but everyone still agreed that they had to attack as soon as possible, to break the egg, and 5 recruits again would stay back to protect the underground base that the resistance called home. The army set off the next day, through the forest, and into the alien base. August had been given a button on a remote to call for the remaining five of the resistance for help, and the citizens, by hacking their radios and telling them everything that has happened and asking them for their help against the alien forces. When they got there, they had their high tech explosive bows and arrows aimed at the egg, when something terrible happened. There was an enormous CRACK as the top of the egg burst off, and a roar came from inside. A UFO came down and beamed up all the alien forces, as if the aliens were scared of the egg, so all that was left was the egg, and the tremendous beast inside of it. There were more cracks as armored arms and legs came out of the egg, and then the head. The creatures eyes were slits, it had no ears, and it was covered in spikes, each at least a foot long, and razor sharp. Its teeth were the size of the spikes, but there were thousands of them, running down the whole throat of the thing. August wondered if he should press the button and call for help. If he did though, people could die. But they would die anyway if this thing got loose. He asked the rest of the resistance "Should I do it?" They nodded. He picked up the remote, and felt its coolness in his hand, as he pressed the button. The creature looked at the resistance. It charged, and the three teen's swords and shields folded out. Bow and arrow shots were fired, to no avail at the scaly indestructible armor of the beast, as it let out a blood curtailing scream and charged the resistance's forces, mouth open. August took charge. "We need to find a weak spot in its armor!" he yelled. "There is no weak spot," Robert screamed, as the beast reached the resistance's forces, clawing, and eating troops. Then, August noticed that the fleshy interior of the creature's mouth was always exposed when it charged. Then he yelled, "Aim for the middle of the creature's mouth when he charges!" The people in the resistance nodded and pulled out their bows and arrows, and taunted the creature to charge them, and when it did, they shot into its mouth, blood pouring from the creature, and when it turned away from the resistance, the three teens would fly up from boosters from their suits, and attack the beast with their swords. But at one slashing attempt, the creature turned around abruptly, and swiped all of the resistance's forces with its long spiked tail, immobilizing all except the teens because of their armor, which broke off of them from the blow. The creature pinned the teens down, ready to eat them, when a voice yelled at the creature. It was the remaining 5 of the resistance, with the citizens of New York City, improvised weapons in hand. The creature took is claw off of the teens, and charged the army of citizens, which all shot improvised arrows, an threw improvised javelins, through the back of the creature's throat, into its brain. The creature, had been destroyed. When the citizens, and the resistance got back to their base, August said, "So it's over?" "I guess so," John replied. Five minutes later, there were reports of weird purple flashes all over New York City, and when the teens went to investigate, a circular portal opened up, about 9 feet in diameter, right in front of them. 3 figures started coming from the portal into NYC. When the teens were about to draw their weapons, they felt the same familiarity in the figures as in the balls that had contained the suits. The figures, now classifiable as humans, stepped out of the portal. "Who are you!" August demanded. The figures said, "We, are you." "What do you mean?" August questioned. "We know this is a lot to take in after what you three have endured, but we are you from the future." The person in the middle said. August then recognized that the three strangers looked a lot like Robert, John, and himself. He started to believe the strangers, but kept questioning. "Why are you here?" "To give you these", the middle stranger, now looking a lot like a older August replied. He tossed 3 balls, one to each of the teens, into their hands. When they caught them, the expanded into the same suits that they had had on earlier. Robert spoke up, "Um, can we just call our names name 1, and your names name 2?" "Sure." Robert 2 replied. Then, August 1 realized something, and asked himself from the future, "How did the balls get into the time capsule?" "Aha!" August 2 responded. "We put them in there, knowing you would trip over them, pick it up, and find the suits." "What was in it earlier?" August 1 responded. "Oh yeah, um just some boring bandages, jars, currency, and this boring paper that started with "We the people of the united states."" "Man, that does sound boring," August 1 responded. "How many more aliens will we have to fight?" "Millions." August 2 responded, "but with the help of others, you will always triumph."
